Join us for a fun workshop all about pointillism! Pointillism is an offshoot of Impressionism in which the painting technique uses dots of color to achieve the forms. When the painting is viewed from a distance, the dots merge to create wonderful colors that scintillate in the light! In this workshop, you will learn an easy way of creating pointillist works like those of Georges Seurat, Paul Signac, and others who led this movement of Post-Impressionism.

Learn the process of translating color sketches completed on site at various locations near Laguna Gloria and in different media to larger studio paintings in oil or acrylic. Every other week we will meet at a named location to do color sketches for compositions painted the following week in the studio. Focus will be on the transition process, composition, and use of color to express the essence of the place, whether through representation or abstraction.

Stack bowl construction is a quick and fun way to build colorful fused-glass projects with little experience and only minimal glasscutting skills. Students will work with their choice of colored base glass and arrange small stacks of glass pieces that will fuse to create rings of depth and color!
