Learn the process of translating color sketches completed on site at various locations near Laguna Gloria and in different media to larger studio paintings in oil or acrylic. Every other week we will meet at a named location to do color sketches for compositions painted the following week in the studio. Focus will be on the transition process, composition, and use of color to express the essence of the place, whether through representation or abstraction.

This class covers the fundamentals of woodworking, focusing on the properties of wood, wood selection, project planning, joinery, and finishes. Students can expect to leave class with a completed piece (past projects include a toolbox and a side table built out of solid wood). No experience is necessary, but students must be comfortable learning to use hand and machine tools, including a table saw, band saw, jointer, planer, and router, with instruction on safety and proper usage.
