Discover skillful ways to trim and finish your wheel-thrown pots. From a narrow bottle form to bowls with altered rims, ceramics artist Jennifer Hill will demonstrate a multitude of techniques. Learn when to say when before trimming through and discover how to create custom trimming chucks that can become new vessels after use. You are encouraged to bring your own leather-hard greenware for hands-on trimming and a half bag or more of moist clay. This one-day workshop is for students with prior wheel-throwing experience

Functional and fun! Learn to create great pouring pots (known as “cruets”): an oil and vinegar set, a soy sauce drizzler, or any spouted vessel for a favorite liquid condiment to add an interesting accent to the table. Using wheel-thrown parts that are then handbuilt together, students will discover versatile ways to approach the cruet form. Demonstrations will include throwing off the hump and creating a custom trimming chuck for rounded pots. Surface decoration and design will be discussed with examples of finished cruets. Basic wheel-throwing skills needed; students may leave their greenware to be bisque fired at the Art School.
